OVER 1,000 LUAMPA HOUSEHOLDS SET TO BENEFIT FSP WETLAND

Over a thousand farming households in Luampa District will benefit from the  Ministry of Community Development and Social Services’ implementation of the Food Security Pack (FSP) wetland initiative.

Speaking during a Food Security Pack Committee meeting, Luampa District Assistant Community Development Officer, Kakoma Shabiyemba, revealed that 1,030 households will receive agricultural inputs under the programme.

“Providing these inputs is a key government strategy aimed at alleviating poverty and enhancing food security at the household level,” Mr. Shabiyemba said.

He explained that the wetland programme was specifically targeting areas with dambo areas to boost production.

“Each of the 60 households received three goats, giving families a chance to diversify their sources of income,” Mr. Shabiyemba added.

Meanwhile, Acting District Agricultural Coordinator Sydney Banda, emphasised on the importance of collaboration between departments.
