The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) in Central Province has suspended three teams in the FAZ Division Two Zone A and B from using their home grounds for their violent conduct during the week 19 games.
According to FAZ Central Province Secretary Maxwell Shaba, the association has taken precautionary measures to prevent further violence and unsportsmanlike incidents for Mount Meru Football Club, Royal Rangers Football Club, and Mkushi Raising Stars by invoking the constitutional provisions of Article 51 and Article 53 (4) of the disciplinary code of 2021.
Mr Shaba said the association temporarily suspended Mount Meru, Royal Rangers and Mkushi Raising Stars from using their home grounds while awaiting determination of their cases by a disciplinary committee.
He emphasised that in view of their conduct, the association has thus directed that Mount Meru will be using the DMI St. Eugene University ground for their upcoming fixtures, while Royal Rangers and Mkushi Rising Stars will be using Nemtree Primary School and Chibefwe School Ground, respectively.
Mr Shaba directed all three teams to guarantee security for travelling teams and match officials to avoid the recurrence of the violent acts before, during, and after their matches.
The Regional Secretary also advised the three teams to uphold sportsmanship behaviour in all games, as any act to the contrary will be dealt with sternly according to the league regulations and statutes.
FAZ recorded the violence clashes during weekend week 19 matches between Mount Meru and Zamseed, Royal Rangers vs. Lunchu all Stars and Mkushi Rising Stars vs. Intersport Football Club.
