The Ministry of Youth, Sport and Arts has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Bolabet Limited to boost the sports economy.
Minister of Youth, Sport and Arts, Elvis Nkandu, said the MoU will empower the youth through sport, strengthen sports infrastructure and enhance opportunities for talent development across Zambia.
Speaking in Lusaka at the signing ceremony today, Nkandu noted that the MoU will facilitate for the financing, designing and construction of a basketball court and multipurpose facility to host indoor games at the Heroes stadium.
He added that the MoU will also facilitate the undertaking of routine maintenance of the same sport facility.
Nkandu further said Bolabet’s decision to invest in the development of a multipurpose sports centre at Heroes stadium is a clear demonstration of corporate patriotism and a shared commitment to national progress.
Meanwhile, Bolabet Limited representative, Rae Kumwenda, said the collaboration between his company and government is a good partnership that will secure the wellbeing of the future generation.
Kumwenda explained that the MoU represents the vision of the government for the Zambian youth as sports is a powerful tool that can lead to social transformation in the country.
