Minister of Youth, Sports and Arts, Elvis Nkandu says sports remain a powerful platform for promoting empowerment, inclusion, and national development in the country.

Nkandu said initiatives that bring together communities, young people, women and girls through sport, play an important role in strengthening social cohesion and encouraging healthy lifestyles.

The minister said this during the launch of the 2026 Wonderful Group Marathon in Lusaka “dubbed “For the girl child. For the Woman. For Zambia.”

The Marathon is scheduled for May 30,2026 on the route that will soon be announced.

And Wonderful Group Deputy Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Roy Mwamba commended the government for its efforts of partnering with the corporate world in developing the country.

Meanwhile, Lusaka Fitness Squad (LFS) president, Katai Chola said the launch is not about the kilometers covered but breaking barriers and showing that gender equality is not just a dream but a reality.
