KASAMA FIRE STATION WORKS PROGRESSES

The construction of a Modern Fire Station in Kasama District has made steady progress.

The Fire Station is being constructed at a cost of K6.9 million with funding from the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development.

Kasama Municipal Council Public Relations Manager, Charity Chaiwila, told ZANIS in an interview that once completed, the facility will enhance emergency response and improve public safety services in the district.

Ms Chaiwila says the council is excited with the coming of the modern fire station, noting that the new facility will provide a modern and conducive working environment for firefighters.

” We wish to update the people of Kasama that the fire station has been making steady progress and as you may be aware we have the contractor on site doing final touches,’’ she noted.

Ms Chaiwila observed that with the growth of the district, the construction of a modern fire station will empower the local authority to better protect property and residents.

“With the rapid growth of Kasama District we have seen a lot of people coming to invest, so with the modern fire station in place, it will enhance the council’s capacity to protect people and property,” she said.

Altavista Investment Limited Project Supervisor Robert Banda has noted that the project has reached its finishing stages.

Meanwhile, the Kasama Municipal Council Fire Department Assistant Division Fire Officer, Clear Tayali, has commended the government for constructing a decent, conducive working environment.

Mr Tayali is however optimistic that once completed the fire station will offer a conducive environment for work.

He has appealed to the government to expedite the construction of the fire station saying fire officers are eager to use the facility.
