GOVERNMENT TO CONTINUE SUPPORTING ZANIS-KAWANA

Ministry of Information and Media Permanent Secretary, Thabo Kawana, says his Ministry has received maximum support from the government to ensure that the Zambia News and Information Services (ZANIS) is well equipped with the needed tools for operational purposes.

Mr Kawana notes that ZANIS was faced with a number of challenges that needed to be addressed especially with the ZANIS TV station that the government officially opened.

Speaking when he paid a courtesy call on Kazungula District Commissioner, Elias Siamibila, Mr Kawana, disclosed that the government is in the process of buying equipment for ZANIS district offices across the country.

“We have received tremendous support from the government. We are buying equipment for our offices throughout the country,” he said.

Mr Kawana disclosed that the Ministry has already started getting vehicles and has also procured laptops and cameras in readiness for distribution to the district offices.

He further explained that the Ministry is also about to procure internet equipment gadgets which will be channeled to all ZANIS districts offices across the country to enhance its operations.

Mr Kawana is confident that the challenges the ZANIS officers are facing will soon be history.

Earlier, Kazungula District Commissioner, Elias Siamibila, outlined some of the challenges the ZANIS office is faced with.

Mr Kawana was in Kazungula District with a team from Independent Broadcasting Authority (IBA) led by Director General, Webster Malido, on their continued tour of the media broadcasting stations in Southern Province to appreciate their operational challenges.
