A 64-year-old man of Chipyola Compound in Lundazi District has died after falling into a six-metre deep well within his yard.

Kakunda Zimba, now deceased, is alleged to have gone on a drinking spree and was last heard by neighbours talking to himself as he was returning back home.

Police say the incident occurred on an unknown date and time, but between March 8, 2026 around 20:00 hours and March 11, 2026 at around 12:00 hours.

The matter was reported to the Lundazi Police Station on March 15 at around 16:00 hours.

Preliminary investigations reveal that the deceased could had fallen in the well due to drunkenness. 

Eastern Province Police Commissioner, Robertson Mweemba   has confirmed the matter to Zambia News and Information Services (ZANIS) in Lundazi today.
