PRESIDENT HICHILEMA COMMISSIONS YUKA MISSION HOSPITAL

President Hakainde Hichilema has officially commissioned Yuka Mission Hospital in Kalabo District of Western Province, marking a significant milestone in the government’s efforts to improve access to quality healthcare services in rural areas.

The newly commissioned facility has been equipped with essential service units, including a modern radiology department, a pediatric ward, and a maternity wing aimed at improving maternal and child health services.

Speaking during the commissioning ceremony, President Hichilema reaffirmed government commitment to improving the health of citizens through the construction and upgrading of modern health facilities across Western Province and the country at large.

President Hichilema noted that the hospital is expected to enhance healthcare delivery and reduce the burden on distant referral facilities.

He emphasised that investing in healthcare is key to national development and improving the well-being of the people.

President Hichilema further expressed gratitude to the Yuka Mission Hospital administration for its continued partnership with the government in strengthening healthcare delivery in the province.

The Head of State noted that collaboration between government and mission institutions is critical in achieving quality health services for all.

Speaking on behalf of the hospital, Chief Administrator, Richard Likando, lauded the Head of State for taking time to visit the area and commission the facility.

Mr Likando said the newly constructed hospital will significantly improve access to healthcare service delivery in the area, adding that the development will greatly benefit surrounding communities by bringing quality medical services closer to the people.

Meanwhile, a Kalabo resident, Yvonne Zulu, has welcomed the development, describing the hospital as a long-awaited project that will significantly improve access to healthcare services in the area.
