Senior Chief Ndungu of the Luvale people in Zambezi District has commended President Hakainde Hichilema for uniting the country through progressive reforms and policies such as the enactment of Bill 7 into law.
Speaking through his Prime Minister, Collins Sandala, in a press statement the traditional leader stated that such legislative milestones are pivotal in strengthening the nation’s legal and social fabric.
The Senior Chief further hailed the government for the creation of the Zambezi Central Constituency, describing the delimitation exercise as a landmark achievement that will accelerate infrastructure development and improve the livelihoods of local residents.
He specifically praised the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) for conducting the process with transparency, impartiality, and integrity, noting that the new constituency is expected to serve as a catalyst for social harmony by bridging gaps and fostering unity between the Luvale and Lunda communities.
Senior Chief Ndungu observed that the creation of the Central constituency is a blueprint for peace which provides a shared platform for all people in the district to work as one.
He maintained that by bringing resources closer to the doorsteps of the people, the government is cementing a foundation of unity and long-lasting development for future generations regardless of their ethnic background.
The traditional leader also pledged his full support for President Hichilema ahead of the August 13 General Election, urging Zambians to grant the Head of State a second mandate to allow him sufficient time to complete his national development agenda.
He characterised the President as the right man for the job, citing the administration’s commitment to rural development and economic stability as the primary reasons for his endorsement.
Meanwhile, the Senior Chief conveyed his deepest condolences to President Hichilema on the loss of his uncle, Mr Maxwell Hichilema, who passed away on April 12, 2026.
The Chief noted that the thoughts and prayers of the Mize Capital Palace remain with the President and the entire first family during this period of mourning.
