CONSTRUCTION OF DRAINAGE SYSTEM IN SESHEKE CDB COMMENCES

Construction works of the Drainage System in the Central Business District in Sesheke, funded under the 2024 Constituency Development Fund (CDF) allocation, which stalled for a full complete year, have commenced.

Speaking in an interview with ZANIS, Public Relations Officer for Sesheke Town Council, Alex Simulunga disclosed that the local authority has engaged the Zambia National Service (ZNS), whose works have been described so far as progressing well.

Mr Simulunga said that the contractor is currently on-site carrying out excavation works and pouring concrete on the drainage structures.

“Various equipment is being utilised to ensure quality and efficiency, for the best drainage to stand the test of time,” said Mr Simulunga.

He also disclosed that ZNS has already delivered required construction materials, including cement, quarry dust, and stones, alongside heavy-duty machinery.

Mr Simulunga noted that the drainage system will have expansion joints at intervals of every three meters to allow concrete expansion during hot weather conditions, thereby enhancing durability and preventing structural damage.
