CANADA INJECTS K1.5 MILLION TO SUPPORT WOMEN’S PARTICIPATION IN ZAMBIA

Gender Division Permanent Secretary Mainga Kabika has appreciated the Canadian government for its financial contribution of K1.5 million towards elevating the participation of women in political leadership in the country.
Ms Kabika notes that women’s participation in decision-making is a gender inequality issue requiring attention, adding that women remain significantly underrepresented in senior leadership positions, particularly in political leadership across the country.
“Your support is not only a testament to Canada’s commitment to enhancing the capacity of female politicians but also a catalyst for empowering women at local level,” added Ms Kabika.
The Permanent Secretary was speaking at her office during the launch of the Elevate Female Political Leadership initiative, with support from the Canadian High Commission.
