YOUTHS CLEAN UP

Youths in Kawambwa district have cleaned up the graveyard of the 45 Kawambwa Boys Technical School pupils who died in a Road Traffic Accident (RTA) at Ntumbacushi Hills cave in 2005.

This is in a show of solidarity and compassion as the country gears up to commemorate the 12th March, 2026 Youth Day under the theme ” Arise and Soar”.

The youth volunteers gathered with slashers, hoes and rakes to cut the overgrown grass, remove weeds and tidy up the burial site of the accident victims situated at Kawambwa Boys Technical School.

45 pupils died after the canter truck carrying over 110 pupils overturned at Ntumbachushi Hills on April 8, 2005.

Speaking during the exercise, Kawambwa District Youth Network Chairperson, Maxwell Mwenya said the initiative was meant to honor the memory of the deceased pupils and show continued support to their grieving families.

” We planned and undertook this activity as it reflects the true spirit of Youth Day, which encourages us the young people to take part in community work and promote unity,” Mr Mwenya said.
