Petauke District in Eastern Province has made headway towards the implementation of the Presidential Constituency Energy Initiative (PCEI).
The district has identified Mupya and Chandema sites for the installation of the two-megawatt solar projects, each in one of the constituencies of Petauke Central and Kaumbwe.
The two sites were selected from the five sites that the district screened following the laid-down criteria.
“The sites are about 3.5 hectares in size,” Mr Petauke Town Council Public Relations Officer Coreen Mwanza said.
The PCEI was a directive from the Head of State to establish constituency solar plants aimed at mitigating the energy crisis the country was experiencing.
