CIVIL SERVANTS ADVISED TO STAY LOYAL TO THE GOVT

Lusaka Province Deputy Permanent Secretary, Alex Mapushi has advised civil servants in Luangwa District to remain professional and loyal to the government of the day as the general election nears .

Addressing Heads of Government Departments, before he visited some fields that were flooded by flash floods, Mr Mapushi called on workers to focus on fostering development, as Luangwa is becoming an advanced border town due to its proximity to Lusaka City.

“The government is working on construction of a bridge across the Zambezi River to enhance trade and other movements between the two countries, and this will attract a lot of tourism activities that will make the town a busy town,” he said.

He further advised the Local Authority’s planning unit to properly organise township infrastructure and prevent disorganization across the district.

Mr Mapushi also toured flood-affected fields, assuring farmers of government’s commitment to providing winter cropping inputs to combat hunger.

And Luangwa District Commissioner, Luke Chikani said low -lying fields were mostly affected by floods, while highland fields were infested by fall armyworms, a situation he described as destructive.

District Marketing Development Officer, Mwangala Mwangala confirmed pesticides have been received and distributed to the affected farmers.
