Kaoma District Commissioner Kashina Sheba says about 90 percent of farmers who supplied maize to government through the Food Reserve Agency (FRA) for the 2025/2026 market season have been paid.
Ms. Sheba emphasized government’s commitment to ensuring that all farmers receive their money, noting that banks have extended working hours up to 21:00 hours to facilitate payments, with 500 to 600 farmers being paid daily.
She urged the remaining farmers to remain calm, assuring them that funds have already been released and payments will be completed soon.
Ms. Sheba added that Kaoma is currently handling payments for its own farmers, while those from Luampa and Nkeyema are being paid in their respective districts.
“As a Government we’re committed to ensuring that all our farmers receive their money. The bank has extended its working hours from morning up to 21:00 hours, and about 500 to 600 farmers are being paid every day, so far about 90% of our farmers have received their money. I want to urge our farmers who have not yet been paid to remain calm, as they will all receive their money soon,” Ms Sheba stated.
