KABWE CONTRACTORS URGED TO EXPEDITE THE COMPLETION OF CDF PROJECTS

The United Party for National Development (UPND) in Kabwe District in Central Province has called on contractors working on various Constituency Development Fund (CDF) projects to expedite the completion of the works in line with the presidential directive.

UPND Kabwe District Acting Chairperson, Gary Domingo said in an interview with ZANIS that the party leadership in the area is not happy with the pace at which some CDF projects are progressing.

ZANIS reports that Mr Domingo said there is need for the contractors to speed up the work on the uncompleted 2024 and 2025 CDF projects.

“As party leadership in Kabwe, we want to see more seriousness from our contractors that are working on CDF projects. There are some projects that started in 2023 but are not yet completed,” Mr Domingo said.

He said the projects should be completed to start serving their purpose for the benefit of the people of Kabwe district.

Mr Domingo said the party leadership in the district is concerned about the continued delays in the completion of some projects by some contractors.

He advised the Kabwe Municipal Council to closely monitor the projects to ensure they are of high quality.

“The people of Kabwe district deserve quality work on all CDF projects,” Mr Domingo said.

Mr Domingo noted that the increase of CDF annual allocation from K1.6 million to K40 million is meant to improve the welfare of citizens.

Meanwhile, Mr Domingo has urged the local authority to address challenges associated with long procurement processes for the CDF projects
