Centre for Elections and Governance (CEG) Executive Director Gershom Musonda says the extension of the voter registration exercise will allow for more eligible voters to register, ahead of the general elections in 2026.

Speaking in an interview with ZANIS, Mr. Gershom explained that extending the process gives more Zambians an opportunity to take part in the country’s democratic process.

ZANIS reports that Mr Musonda has since urged all stakeholders, including political parties, civil society organizations and community leaders, to encourage eligible citizens to register as voters, in order to ensure competitive and inclusive elections.

He further called for continued support to the Electoral commission of Zambia (ECZ) as it works to address logistical challenges and implement ongoing electoral and constitutional reforms.

The Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) has extended the voter registration exercise by 15 days, now expected to conclude on November 26, 2026.
