Zambia News and Information Services ZANIS has pledged continued media support to the Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) in efforts aimed at combating drug and substance abuse through public education and awareness.
ZANIS Director Loyce Saili made the commitment when she visited the DEC exhibition stand during the Africa Public Service Day commemorations at East Park Mall in Lusaka.
Ms Saili said ZANIS remains ready to provide platforms that will enable the commission to disseminate information on the dangers of drug abuse and trafficking to members of the public.
Meanwhile, Drug Enforcement Commission Education and Counseling Department Programs Officer Emma Tembo called for greater community participation in the fight against drug and substance abuse.
She noted that the growing problem requires collective action from families, schools, churches and workplaces.
Ms Tembo said drug abuse has become a widespread challenge affecting almost every household and can no longer be left to law enforcement agencies alone.
