Chilanga Cement, Zambia Sugar Plc and Royal Oak are among six other Zambian companies that have been awarded at the prestigious Southern African Development Community (SADC) Quality Award in the large enterprise category.
Others include Legacy Manufactures Limited, Technical Centre for Climate Change and Agriculture Development and Perfect Five Cleaning Solutions Limited, which were awarded under the Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) award category, respectively.
The awards, which were organized by SADC, were held in Johannesburg, South Africa, yesterday.
The SADC Quality Awards introduced in 2009 by the SADC Committee of Ministers of Trade aims to encourage public and private entities to apply and comply with international standards in line with local, regional, and international practices in their day-to-day operations.
Zambia Bureau of Standards (ZABS) Executive Director, Nathan Sing’ambwa who witnessed the awarding ceremony, congratulated the companies for their exceptional performance and commitment to quality.
