Lavushimanda DEBS office receives vehicle

Government has purchased and delivered a 4 by 4 Toyota land cruiser to the District Education Board Secretary’s (DEBS) Office in Lavushimanda District, Muchinga Province.

Lavushimanda DEBS, Beatus Nshenda, says the vehicle has come at a right time when the district was in a critical need of an operational vehicle.

ZANIS reports that Mr Nshenda said the vehicle will be used for monitoring programmes and activities such as the school feeding programme, infrastructure development projects and the delivery of examination materials.

He disclosed that the vehicle is strong enough to allow even the monitoring of programmes from schools situated in hard-to-reach places such as Lumbatwa and Kamwendo Primary, which are both over 200 kilometers away from Mununga Town where his office is situated.

“On behalf of the office, I am so grateful to the government for this gesture as it will assist in enhancing our operations,” he said.

Mr Nshenda added that the department previously faced transport challenges which resulted in delaying to monitor projects such as schools being built and funded under the World Bank,  as well as the school feeding programme among others.

He explained that the coming of the new vehicle will also assist in enhancing service delivery and speed up the completion of most projects that have been delayed to be completed.

“We shall ensure that the vehicle is well maintained so that it lasts long in the service,” he said.
