PETAUKE COUNCIL SATISFIED WITH REVISED CASH FOR WORK GUIDELINES

The local authority in Petauke District of Eastern Province has expressed satisfaction with the guidelines for the Revised Cash for Work (RCfW) programme.

Petauke Council Secretary, Kelvin Banda, has disclosed that the programme has addressed various challenges that affected the previous Cash for Work initiative.

Speaking during a stakeholder meeting on the RCFW guidelines, Mr Banda indicated that the revised programme has resolved issues such as double dipping, registration, identification, and recruitment of beneficiaries.

ZANIS reports that Mr Banda added that the programme also has an embedded grievance redress mechanism to address issues raised by the public.

“There will be changes in terms of beneficiary identification to avoid double dipping. We have to make sure that the people who are benefiting are the people who are supposed to benefit from such an intervention. This time around, the programme is embracing technology,” he said.

Petauke District Commissioner, Martha Mulenga, emphasised the need to address double dipping, noting that the government does not want to deprive anyone of the opportunity to benefit from the programme.

Ms Mulenga said double dipping disadvantaged many deserving beneficiaries from accessing such opportunities under the previous programme.

She also emphasised the need for teamwork in order to achieve the set objectives of the programme.
