ZAMBIA CALLS FOR STRENGTHENED RELATIONS WITH US

President Hakainde Hichilema has emphasized the importance of maintaining and strengthening the strong bilateral relations between Zambia and the United States of America through enhanced economic cooperation.

President Hichilema says increasing investment based on mutual partnerships will benefit both countries by fostering greater investment and trade for the prosperity of the two countries.

He said the American society is founded on strong businesses that have invested domestically and internationally.

Speaking when US Chargè d’affaires, Mich Coker, paid a courtesy call on him at State House today, President Hichilema said the two countries should leverage their good historical relations to further deepen their bilateral ties, which have endured through many phases historically.

“When our interests converge, it is easier to walk together that way,” he said.

He added that strengthening bilateral ties will deliver mutual benefits, including employment opportunities and business ventures for the Zambian people through mutual collaborations.

“We have a good historical relationship that has endured. Let us utilise this to deepen what we are able to achieve together,” he said.

And US Chargè d’affaires, Mich Coker, has described the Zambia-US relationship as a strong one which should be sustained.

Mr Coker noted that with many shared interests between Zambia and the US, prosperity and progress can be advanced for the benefit of both nations.

“I find this area of engagement to be fairly straightforward for someone in my role because we are blessed with so many shared values,” he said.
