RDA ENGAGES ENGINEER ON KABWE-NGABWE ROAD

The Government, through the Road Development Agency (RDA), has engaged East Consult Limited as the design engineer and construction supervisor for the much-anticipated upgrade of the 150-kilometer Kabwe-Ngabwe Road to bituminous standard.

Richard Njobvu, the lead engineer at East Consult Limited, has revealed that, in addition to the 150 kilometers earmarked for the main road, an extra 20 kilometers of township roads will be constructed in both Kabwe and Ngabwe districts.

Mr Njobvu said this when he paid a courtesy call on Central Province Permanent Secretary Milner Mwanakampwe, in Kabwe.

Mr Njobvu further explained that the entire project is scheduled to run for 72 months saying the first six months have been allocated for the design phase, while the remaining period includes construction, as well as a 32-month defects liability period during which the contractor will address any issues that arise.

And Central Province Permanent Secretary, Milner Mwanakampwe, expressed satisfaction with the progress.

Dr Mwanakampwe, however, urged the RDA to ensure timely delivery of the project and that high-quality standards are met throughout the process.
