A farmer in Kalumbila District of North-Western Province has appealed to the government to help create market for soya bean farmers.
Dennis Masuwa said small-scale farmers in Kalumbila and the Province at large have for a long time struggled to sell their produce.
He explained that unlike maize which was easy to sell and fetched more money, farmers were shunning planting soya beans due to lack of readily available market.
Mr Masuwa said soya beans was among the nutritious foods farmers should be encouraged to grow especially if they were to continue to practice crop diversification.
“If we are to be motivated to continue growing soya beans government should consider increasing the market flow price for soya beans,” he emphasised.
