North-Western Province Deputy Permanent Secretary Luckson Mulumbi has reiterated government’s commitment to promoting Christian values and principles among young people as a way of fostering moral development and addressing mental health challenges.
Mr Mulumbi said initiatives such as the Scripture Union played a critical role in shaping the spiritual wellbeing of learners, particularly at a time when many youths were facing increasing social and psychological pressures.
He was speaking during the 2026 Provincial Scripture Union Camp Meeting held in Kalumbila District.
Mr Mulumbi noted that government recognised the importance of faith-based organisations in complementing efforts to guide young people towards responsible citizenship.
He added that platforms like the Scripture Union help equip learners with values that enable them to overcome life’s challenges and make sound decisions.
“The government acknowledges and appreciates the invaluable contribution of Scripture Union and as such we shall continue to work tirelessly to foster a brighter future for all the young people through education, health and agriculture”, Mr Mulumbi said.
Meanwhile, Provincial Scripture Union Chairperson Emmanuel Kandolondo said the camp meeting had attracted learners from various schools across the province.
This year’s Provincial Scripture Union Camp Meeting was being held under the theme “Being Equipped in the Full Armor of God” drawn from Ephesians 6:10–18.
