PRESIDENT HICHILEMA EMPHASIZES PEACE AND UNITY

President Hakainde Hichilema has called on Zambians to embrace unity and peace throughout the country.

The President says there is need for Zambians to accommodate and tolerate each other countrywide.

The President said this when he engaged with members of the Clergy on the Copperbelt Province at the United Church of Zambia Luanshya Town Congregation.

President Hichilema has observed that unity and love is what is needed for the nation to overcome evil vices such as mob justice and killings happening in the country.

He added that people should live like families and accommodate each other, in order to conquer the hate in some individuals.

The President cited the Kisasa incident as a sad development, saying that there is need for the clergy to emphasise on love, in order for people to begin to overcome hatred with love.

The President has assured residents that Luanshya will be happy again.

“Despite the inherited challenges, we are doing our best to restore the country to what it should be. I want to assure you that Luanshya will be proud and happy again. Let us work hard in unity,” he advised.

And speaking earlier, Copperbelt Provincial Minister Elisha Matambo thanked the President for bringing the district of Luanshya back to life.

He said the revamping of Shaft 28 has brought hope to a lot of people in Luanshya.

And in his welcoming remarks Copperbelt Clergy Consultative Forum Consortium Chairperson Bishop Randy Lewila retaliated that the Church remains committed to its non-partisan stance and embraces everyone regardless of their political inclinations.

Bishop Lewila has further condemned the rising mob justice incidents reciting the recent one in Kisasa Northwestern Province.

“As the Church we condemn in its strongest terms the rising trend of mob justice,” he said.

And when giving his Statement of Purpose, Bishop Joseph Kazhila of Full Life Gospel Ministries International said the church wants to partner with the government of the day in finding avenues of economic empowerment for the people.

The President who is on a two-day working visit to the Copperbelt has since departed Luanshya for Kitwe for further engagements.
