PRESIDENT HICHILEMA URGES MUCHINGA TO VOTE FOR UPND CANDIDATES

President Hakainde Hichilema has asked the people in Muchinga to vote for United Party for National Development (UPND) candidates in the August general elections for continued development.

The President Hichilema implored electorates in Muchinga Province to vote for UPND candidates aspiring for different political positions for the party to continue delivering development through the Constituency Development Fund (CDF).

The president said voting for UPND candidates will also ensure free education and continued implementation of other developments.

“As you vote, vote for UPND President, Area Members of Parliament, Mayor/Chairpersons, and Councillors for continuation of the free education for development to continue such as construction of Schools, free education and massive development through CDF,” he said

He also pledged to continue delivering development in Muchinga Province and the country at large once voted back into power.

President Hichilema said this upon arrival at Chinsali Airstrip in Chinsali today.

The President is in the area to meet with party officials and all UPND candidates who are contesting the various positions in the general elections.

President Hichilema said he has appointed every electorate in Muchinga as his campaign manager ahead of the general election.

He also expressed happiness with the good reception he received from people in the province.

He said he is becoming a familiar face in Muchinga Province, adding that the visit is a sign of love for the people of Chinsali and Muchinga at large.

UPND Provincial Chairperson Beddah Kabombo, who was on hand to receive the head of state, thanked him for visiting the area.

Earlier, Muchinga Province Permanent Secretary Dr Tuesday Bwalya highlighted the impact of the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) and development that has been delivered in the province under the leadership of President Hakainde Hichilema.

Dr Bwalya said through CDF the province has seen construction of key infrastructure such as schools and health facilities, which have improved service delivery in the province.

Meanwhile, UPND parliamentary candidate for Mafinga South, Robert Chabinga, says the president’s visit to Muchinga Province will strengthen the party structure in the region ahead of the full-fledged campaigns.

Mr Chabinga said the meeting with President Hichilema will provide a road map to the party in the province to strategise and help UPND-adopted candidates to move in line with the party manifesto as they campaign.

The UPND candidate is confident that the party, which did not win a single parliamentary seat in 2021, will sweep to victory in the province this year.

“We shall ensure that as adopted candidates we deliver 100 percent of the seats in parliamentary elections,” he said.

He also praised government for developing favourable agriculture policies which have seen the country produce a maize bumper harvest.

Earlier, scores of people welcomed the president at the Chinsali airstrip.

Among those who received the president were the newly recruited nurses and students from Kapasa Makasa University.

The President proceeded to have a closed-door meeting with UPND officials and adopted candidates who are vying for various positions in the 2026 general elections.
