Minister of Energy, Makozo Chikote says Government prioritises shifting the energy sector from policy formulation to implementation and scale up of Energy solutions.
He says the government is in this vain, implementing various interventions aimed at strengthening energy security in the country.
The Minister said this in a speech read for him by the Ministry of Energy Permanent Secretary, Ephraim Munshifwa, during the inaugural Zambia Annual Renewable Energy Conference, in Lusaka.
He explained that among the strategic programmes being advanced are the Open Access Framework, designed to liberalise the electricity market and allow independent power producers and large consumers to transact directly.
“The role of the private sector remains central to our success. We therefore call upon credible investors to partner with the government in delivering energy infrastructure that is reliable, affordable, and sustainable, the Minister said.
