CHILANGA Member of Parliament Sipho Hlazo has disclosed that 24,000 title deeds have been issued to landowners in Namalombwe Ward, with an additional 4000 expected within four weeks.
Mr Hlazo said the long-overdue exercise will help residents secure their land, underscoring government’s commitment to empowering communities.
Mr Hlazo was speaking during the distribution of rice by the Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit (DMMU) to 80 flood-affected households in the ward.
And Namalombwe Ward Councillor Bright Sinazongwe urged residents who built wall fences blocking waterways to create openings to reduce flooding, while sensitisation efforts continue to educate communities on proper land use.
“The Ministry of Lands has done a local area plan which provides guidance to the community where different services can be done,” Mr Sinazongwe said.
