Smart Zambia National Coordinator, Percy Chinyama has called for increased investment in digital infrastructure to foster a digitally inclusive middle-income country by 2030.
Mr Chinyama says to achieve this, there is need for Public-Private Partnership (PPPs) engagements.
He said the Institute is ready to digitalize and modernize the country through internet connectivity that has reached approximately 80 percent.
Mr Chinyama disclosed this during a media engagement to update the nation on the progress the Institute has recorded in a period of four years from 2021 to 2025 in terms of internet country-wide connectivity.
He highlighted some key progress achieved such as connecting all 116 local authorities to the government network (e-government) and partnering with ZESCO to expand digital infrastructure as well as digital record keeping and access data at the Ministries of Agriculture, Lands, Community Development and Social Services among others.
Mr Chinyama explained that the Institute is working towards improving public service delivery, creating jobs, and fostering a culture of digital entrepreneurship nationwide.
And Smart Zambia Chief Government Technical Officer, Kasali Musenge revealed that K7 billion was realized as revenue in digital transactions during the four year period.
