A 12-year-old grade four pupil at one of the primary schools in Lundazi district has been sodomised by a male adult.

The named juvenile of Mvakule village in Mphamba area is alleged to be sodomised more than once by the same man.

Eastern Province Police Commissioner Robertson Mweemba, confirmed the incident has named the perpetrator who is believed to be between the age of 30 and 40 of unknown address.

The incident is believed to have happened between October 2025 and February 27, 2026 at unknown time in Mvakule village but was reported on March 1, 2026 at around 22:00 hours by the victim’s uncle.

Mr Mweemba said the suspect was employed by the victim’s grandmother early last year as a farm worker in charge of livestock.

“In October 2025, the perpetrator is alleged to have first sodomised the boy after threatening to beat him up if he refused,” the Eastern Province Police Chief said.

He explained that the perpetrator repeatedly abused the juvenile sexually at the kraal in the night.

“However, on February 27, 2026, around 16:00 hours, he was found in the act by the victim’s nine-year-old brother who later informed their grandmother.

The suspect has since been apprehended and is currently detained at Lundazi police station.
