Lusaka City Council has allocated K6.8 million towards Secondary Boarding School and Skills Development Bursaries under the 2026 Constituency Development Fund (CDF) in Mandevu Constituency.
The local authority has since commenced a headcount for skills development beneficiaries in various training institutions.
In a press statement, issued to ZANIS by LCC Public Relations Manager, Chola Mwamba said the exercise is meant to align allocated resources with the actual number of beneficiaries.
She says the exercise is being conducted by a team from the council comprising planning, audit, and public relations officers.
Ms Mwamba said student registration will determine the level of expenditure for the bursary programme.
She said the Government remains committed to inclusive development through skills bursaries and equal opportunities for all Zambians.
“The Skills Development Bursary Programme aims to increase access to vocational training for vulnerable and deserving citizens,” she said.
Ms Mwamba added that the programme equips beneficiaries with practical skills to enhance employability.
She said the initiative also promotes entrepreneurship among youths and adults.
Ms Mwamba said the programme contributes to poverty reduction and community development.
She added that it helps address skills gaps in key sectors of the economy.
Ms Mwamba has urged beneficiaries to cooperate fully with officers conducting the headcount.
