Lusaka, June 10, 2025, ZANIS—Ministry of Infrastructure and Urban Development Permanent Secretary Albert Malama says the burial site for the late former 6th Republican President Edgar Lungu will be ready by burial date. Dr. Malama said significant progress has been made on the tomb as a dedicated team are working tirelessly to ensure the site is ready by burial date. He assured that a quality burial site that honors the late former President’s memory will be delivered on schedule.

“I am confident that the tomb will be ready by the burial date, with granite work expected to start tomorrow and completion anticipated by Friday,” noted Dr Malama. Dr. Malama said this when he checked on the progress made at the Embassy Park, for the late former President’s final resting place. Earlier, Minister of Community Development and Social Security Doreen Mwamba underscored the importance of coming together as a nation to mourn and celebrate the life and achievements of the Late former President. “Citizens should take advantage of the mourning period, to put aside their differences and come together in unity,” the Minister emphasized. Ms. Mwamba has since expressed condolences to the late former President’s family, the Patriotic Front members, and the nation as a whole.
