KABWE COUNCIL INTENSIFIES EPIDEMIC PREPAREDNESS THROUGH INSPECTIONS

Kabwe Municipal Council has intensified inspections of liquor trading premises in a bid to strengthen epidemic preparedness and prevent possible disease outbreaks.

Kabwe Municipal Council Director of Public Health Christopher Mtonga says the local authority has heightened public health surveillance in bars, nightclubs, liquor stores and wholesale outlets across the district.

Mr Mtonga explained in an interview, that the move was aimed at addressing concerns surrounding hygiene and sanitation standards in such establishments.

“With respect to epidemic preparedness, we have intensified inspections in liquor trading premises to prevent any potential disease outbreaks that may arise from poor hygiene and sanitation,” Mr. Mtonga said.

Mr Mtonga further stated that food hygiene and safety remained a key area of concern, especially in premises where food was prepared or served.

Mr Mtonga has since urged business owners to strictly comply with hygiene standards and public health regulations to protect the health and safety of the public.
