Presidential Delivery Unit (PDU) Communications and Outreach Officer Lughano Mwangwewo says the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) remains a major component on President Hakainde Hichilema’s developmental agenda.
Mr Mwangwewo says CDF has significantly improved various sectors of the economy especially the education sector that has experienced massive enrollments following the reintroduction of the free education policy.
He said various schools across the country have benefitted from the construction of single and double story class room blocks aimed at decongesting classrooms and providing learners with adequate and conducive learning spaces.
Mr Mwangwewo said this when he toured a newly constructed two-by-three double-story classroom block at Mushitala Secondary School to validate the reports on how CDF was being utilised in the province.
He added that infrastructure development remained a top priority in the education sector so as to ensure learners received quality education in a habitable and favorable environment.
He however, raised a concern about why the structure was not yet functional despite the construction works having been completed.
Solwezi Municipal Council Senior Quantity Surveyor Kapasa Ndondominga said the structure could not be commissioned, as the authority was still waiting for the desks and installation of the book racks, which would be done by mid-February, 2026.
She added that the K1.2 million double-story structure was a 2023 CDF project which was constructed at the learning facility to ease the burden of inadequate learning spaces.
Mushitala Secondary School acting Deputy Head Teacher, Loveness Siangwenya expressed happiness for the development adding that the school was grappling with learning spaces and this has led the school to combine form ones and form threes.
She further appealed to the local authority to speed up the commissioning of the classroom block to lighten their burden of learning spaces.
