JUSTINA MUTALE FOUNDATION, ALU SEAL EDUCATION DEAL

The Justina Mutale Foundation and Africa Leadership University (ALU) have announced a targeted partnership to expand access to higher education for talented students from Southern Africa.

According to a statement made available to ZANIS by the Foundations Press Officer Moses Walubita, through this collaboration, the Justina Mutale Foundation will recommend students for grants and full-fee admission at ALU, supporting high-achieving young people from financially constrained backgrounds in the region.

Mr Walubita said the Africa Leadership University operates two campuses, of which its main campus is in Kigali, Rwanda, and the Africa Leadership College of Higher Education is in Pamplemousses, Mauritius.

“ALU offers innovative, skill-based degree programmes designed to prepare students for leadership, entrepreneurship and impact across Africa,” added Mr Walubita.

Dr Justina Mutale, Founder and President of the Justina Mutale Foundation, said the Foundation is delighted to collaborate with Africa Leadership University to expand educational opportunities for young leaders from Southern Africa.

Dr Mutale further said by identifying and recommending students for grants and admissions, the aim is to help talented individuals reach their full potential, regardless of their financial background.

Meanwhile, Nyasha Ngara, ALU Country Representative for Zimbabwe said the partnership strengthens ALU’s commitment to developing ethical, entrepreneurial leaders for Africa.

Ms Ngara pointed out that working with the Justina Mutale Foundation ensures that motivated students from Southern Africa have access to transformative higher education opportunities, enabling them to lead change in their communities and beyond.

Under the partnership, the Justina Mutale Foundation will identify and recommend up to 10 students per intake who meet ALU’s admission requirements, of which the first cohort of Justina Mutale Foundation-recommended students is expected to begin their studies at ALU’s Kigali campus in Rwanda in May 2026.
