CASH FOR WORK STAKEHOLDERS TUTORED

Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development Permanent Secretary, Gabriel Pollen, has urged Directors of Finance, Engineering, Planning, Social Welfare Officers, and ICT Officers to transfer the knowledge gained from the Revised Cash for Work Programme into their communities.

Dr Pollen made the call at the official closing of an orientation workshop on the Revised Cash for Work Programme held at Chalimbana Local Government Training Institute from 5th to 15th January, 2026.

He described the workshop as an empowerment exercise aimed at building a brighter future and not merely an information session.

The workshop focused on key aspects of the programme which included an overview of the Revised Cash for Work initiative, institutional arrangements for stakeholder implementation, payment modalities and social welfare training.

Other areas covered during the workshop included monitoring and evaluation mechanisms, grievance redress and feedback systems and application procedures for the revised programme.

Dr Pollen has since commended institutional stakeholders for their involvement and encouraged participants to share their insights, discuss the programme, and motivate community members to participate in the transformative opportunity.
