A 26-year-old man has died on the spot in Kasama in northern province after he lost control of the motorcycle he was riding.<\/p>\n
Northern Province Police Commanding Officer Simunji Mulonda confirmed the incident in a press statement made available to the Zambia News and Information Services (ZANIS) this afternoon.<\/p>\n
Mr Mulonda said the accident happened along the Kasama-Mungwi road around 19:50 hours yesterday.<\/p>\n
He identified the motorbike rider as Prince Siame of Namulundu village in Senior Chief Mwamba\u2019s Chiefdom who sustained fatal head injuries.<\/p>\n
Mr Mulonda disclosed that involved was an unregistered Kinglion motorbike and a Toyota Vitz bearing registration number APB 4760 which was being driven by Joseph Kabamba aged 23 of Mulenga hills Township in Kasama District.<\/p>\n
\u201cPreliminary investigations indicate that the accident occurred when the said rider was hit in unknown circumstances after he lost control of the motorbike and hit into the Toyota Vitz, which was coming from the opposite direction,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Mr Mulonda said the body of the deceased is lying in Kasama General Hospital Mortuary awaiting post-mortem while the driver of the Toyota Vitz escaped unhurt.<\/p>\n
The Police Commanding Officer has since cautioned motorcycle riders and motorists against being reckless on the road.<\/p>\n
Mr Mulonda noted that irresponsible conduct continues to pose a serious threat and result into severe injuries and tragic loss of life.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
