A 74-year-old landlady of Mchenga Compound in Chipata District in Eastern Province has been allegedly raped by her tenant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The named landlady was allegedly sexually assaulted by the tenant while she was alone at home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Zambia Police Service Eastern Province Police Commanding Officer Robertson Mweemba confirmed the incident to ZANIS, saying the matter was reported on May 30, 2026, at Mchini Police Post under Chipata Central Police Station.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mr Mweemba said the alleged offence is believed to have occurred on an unknown date in May 2026 at the victim\u2019s residence in Mchenga Compound.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He said the suspect, identified only as Chimuchila, moved into the victim\u2019s house as a tenant in April 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“The suspect is also alleged to have threatened the woman against revealing the incident,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mr Mweemba said the victim reportedly kept the matter to herself until May 21, 2026, when she informed her daughter after complaining of ill health.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Her daughter took her to hospital for treatment and later advised her to report the matter to the police after learning of the alleged incident,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
