{"id":4339,"date":"2026-05-29T11:24:18","date_gmt":"2026-05-29T08:24:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.zanis.gov.zm\/?p=4339"},"modified":"2026-05-29T11:24:18","modified_gmt":"2026-05-29T08:24:18","slug":"39-000-animals-targeted-for-fmd-vaccination-in-north-western","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.zanis.gov.zm\/?p=4339","title":{"rendered":"39, 000 ANIMALS TARGETED FOR FMD VACCINATION IN NORTH-WESTERN"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>North-Western Province Veterinary Officer, Peter Banda says the department is targeting to vaccinate 39,000 animals against Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) in four high-risk districts of the province.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking in an interview with ZANIS, Dr Banda said North-Western remains on high alert due to the increasing number of animals entering the region from other provinces both legally and illegally.<\/p>\n<p>He identified Mufumbwe, Kasempa, Kalumbila and Mushindamo as districts receiving a high influx of animals.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are on high alert because of the high number of animals that are coming in both legally and illegally from other provinces,\u201d Dr Banda said.<\/p>\n<p>Dr Banda further disclosed that veterinary officers are closely monitoring the districts bordering the province, following an outbreak of Foot and Mouth Disease in the area.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBecause of the outbreak in Western Province, we are on high alert, especially in districts bordering the province namely Zambezi, Kabompo, Manyinga and Mufumbwe, particularly along the Kasempa -Kaoma Road,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>North-Western Province Veterinary Officer, Peter Banda says the department is targeting to vaccinate 39,000 animals against Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) in four high-risk districts of the province.
