The GIZ- Food and Nutrition Security Enhanced Resilience (GIZ-FANSER) Plus Project has availed a District Hardware Fund to address critical district-level gaps in nutrition service delivery in Luapula Province.<\/p>\n
Under the Hardware Fund initiative each GIZ-FANSER intervention district in Luapula namely Mansa, Chembe and Chipili Districts will receive 20,000 Euros funding through the respective District Nutrition Coordination Committees (DNCC) dedicated to\u00a0procurement of strategic operation equipment such as motorbikes and laptops meant to enhance coordination, monitoring, implementation and delivery of nutrition sensitive interventions.<\/p>\n
GIZ- FANSER Plus Regional Coordinator, Annette Roth disclosed this during a Special Provincial Nutrition Coordinating Committee (PNCC) meeting in Mansa.<\/p>\n
Dr Roth added that the DNCC will spearhead the identification and prioritisation of strategic investments based on district needs.<\/p>\n
“The DNCC wants to do a lot but they are constrained by resources. Partnering with the Zambian government we have decided to come up with this fund to support and strengthen the DNCC to have the possibility to decide on their priority nutrition investments to serve the most vulnerable in their areas to improve the nutrition situation in Luapula,” Dr Roth said.<\/p>\n
Luapula Province Deputy Permanent Secretary, Evans Sikabbubba says the government with support from its cooperating partners has intensified efforts to combat child stunting and strengthen nutrition service delivery in the region.<\/p>\n
