Copperbelt Province Permanent Secretary, Lawrence Mwanza has commended the Zambia Qualifications Authority for decentralising its outreach programmes and taking services closer to the people.<\/p>\n
Speaking during the ZAQA workshop in Ndola District, Mr Mwanza said the initiative of decentralisation demonstrates the government’s commitment to inclusivity, accessibility, and citizen engagement.<\/p>\n
He said the sensitisation programmes will ensure that the skills, knowledge, and competencies learners acquire meet both national and international standards.<\/p>\n
Mr Mwanza noted that people need to understand verification and registration of qualifications, quality assurance, and the alignment of qualifications to the Zambia Qualifications Framework.<\/p>\n
He added that many citizens, employers, and institutions still need clarity on the recognition of qualifications, recognition of prior learning, accreditation of qualifications, and the importance of enrolling only in recognised and registered training programmes.<\/p>\n
Zambia Qualification Authority Manager Standards and Quality Assurance Jericho Kashiya said all academic and professional qualifications obtained locally or outside the country must be recognised under the National Qualifications Framework before they can be used for employment or educational purposes in Zambia.<\/p>\n
