{"id":4101,"date":"2026-05-15T14:59:49","date_gmt":"2026-05-15T11:59:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.zanis.gov.zm\/?p=4101"},"modified":"2026-05-15T14:59:49","modified_gmt":"2026-05-15T11:59:49","slug":"nakonde-district-hospital-management-given-ultimatum-to-improve-sanitation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.zanis.gov.zm\/?p=4101","title":{"rendered":"NAKONDE DISTRICT HOSPITAL MANAGEMENT GIVEN ULTIMATUM TO IMPROVE SANITATION"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Muchinga Province Permanent Secretary Tuesday Bwalya has given the Nakonde District Hospital management a 14-days ultimatum to improve sanitation at the health facility.<\/p>\n<p>Dr Bwalya noted with concern that the toilet facilities at the hospital are not well maintained with most of them having been non-functional for some time.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking when he inspected the health facility in Nakonde, Dr Bwalya lamented that patients at the hospital are forced to use buckets and water drums due to the poor water reticulation systems for the toilets.<\/p>\n<p>He charged that the situation observed is below governments expected standards of a health facility, stating that management should address the sanitation problem within 14 days.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe do not want our patients to be subjected to such conditions when they are seeking medical services and I want the hospital management to take this directive very seriously because I will come back to check if the need has been done,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>Dr Bwalya further appealed to management at the facility to also address the problem of the mortuary which has not been functional for over three months now.<\/p>\n<p>And acting Nakonde District Director for Health Services, Moses Bwanga assured the Permanent Secretary that the situation will be addressed within the stipulated time frame.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Muchinga Province Permanent Secretary Tuesday Bwalya has given the Nakonde District Hospital management a 14-days ultimatum to improve sanitation at the health facility.
