{"id":3919,"date":"2026-05-05T10:48:31","date_gmt":"2026-05-05T07:48:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.zanis.gov.zm\/?p=3919"},"modified":"2026-05-05T10:51:24","modified_gmt":"2026-05-05T07:51:24","slug":"who-donates-vehicles-and-ict-equipment","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.zanis.gov.zm\/?p=3919","title":{"rendered":"WHO DONATES VEHICLES AND ICT EQUIPMENT"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Government has received motor vehicles, motorbikes, laptops and tablets from the World Health Organisation (WHO), in a bid to support the Expanded Programme on Immunisation, Emergency Preparedness and Response.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking during the handover ceremony in Lusaka, Minister of Health, Alex Katakwe said the donated items will contribute to strengthening delivery of immunization, timely detection of preventable disease outbreaks and data reporting.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is with great pleasure that I stand on behalf of the government to receive 216 motorbikes, 10 motor vehicles and 229 laptop computers and 100 tablets,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Dr Katakwe added that his Ministry will prioritise deploying motorbikes to primary health care facilities in districts with the highest zero-dose burden and weak access to health infrastructure.<\/p>\n<p>WHO Country Representative, Clement Lusuba, added that the items are intended to expand outreach, improve supply chain and logistics, and strengthen surveillance and data management.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Zambia National Public Health Institute (ZNPHI) Director General, Roma Chilengi said the intervention brings the country closer to achieving universal health coverage by accommodating zero dose children.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Government has received motor vehicles, motorbikes, laptops and tablets from the World Health Organisation (WHO), in a bid to support the Expanded Programme on Immunisation, Emergency Preparedness and Response.
