MINISTER of Health Alex Katakwe says government has made significant progress in addressing the erratic water supply at the University Teaching Hospital (UTH).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dr Katakwe notes this when responding to a question during the Vice President\u2019s Question and Answer Session in Parliament by Chama North Member of Parliament Yotam Mtayachalo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He confirmed that the water supply situation at the country\u2019s largest referral hospital has improved considerably, with the facility now receiving water in line with the schedule set by the Lusaka Water Supply and Sanitation Company.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dr Katakwe explained that the improved supply has enhanced hospital operations and strengthened infection prevention and control measures across various departments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
However, the Minister acknowledged that the hospital continues to face challenges due to its ageing water infrastructure, noting that the existing pipe system requires urgent rehabilitation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
