{"id":3633,"date":"2026-04-16T21:00:00","date_gmt":"2026-04-16T19:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.zanis.gov.zm\/?p=3633"},"modified":"2026-04-16T19:46:02","modified_gmt":"2026-04-16T17:46:02","slug":"chisamba-records-109-schoolgirl-pregnancies-in-1st-quarter-of-2026","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.zanis.gov.zm\/?p=3633","title":{"rendered":"CHISAMBA RECORDS 109 SCHOOLGIRL PREGNANCIES IN 1ST QUARTER OF 2026"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">CHISAMBA District has recorded 109 pregnancies among school going children in the first quarter of 2026, raising concern among education and health authorities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">District Education Board Secretary (DEBS) Florence Libeya, in a report presented on her behalf by District Guidance and Counselling Coordinator Getrude Mweemba, revealed that Mwomboshi Secondary School recorded the highest number of cases among the district\u2019s top ten schools, while Chisamba Day and Muswishi Primary had the lowest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Ms Libeya said the district recorded 34 pregnancies among girls aged 14 to 15, 61 cases among those aged 17 to 19, and 14 cases among young women aged 20 to 25.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cMwomboshi Secondary School has the highest prevalence with 14 cases,\u201d she said during a district stakeholders\u2019 technical working group meeting at Chisamba Council Hall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Mupamapamo Health Post, Nurse and Midwife\u2011in\u2011Charge, Francisca Chizyuka, reminded stakeholders that the law permits safe abortion services when a pregnancy endangers a person\u2019s life.&nbsp;   <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>CHISAMBA District has recorded 109 pregnancies among school going children in the first quarter of 2026, raising concern among education and health authorities.
