President Hakainde Hichilema has made a series of judicial appointments in line with article 140(e) of the Constitution of Zambia.<\/p>\n
Based on the recommendation of the Judicial Service Commission, President Hichilema has appointed Justice Chalwe mchenga, Lady Justice Abha Patel, Lady Justice Getrude Chawatama and Mr Butler Sitali as judges of the Supreme Court.<\/p>\n
The President has further appointed Lady Justice Pixie Yangailo, Justice Vincent Siloka and Mrs Getrude Imbwae as judges of the Constitutional Court, subject to ratification by the national Assembly.<\/p>\n
The Head of State has also appointed Justice Charles Zulu as Deputy President of the Court of Appeal.<\/p>\n
The President has also appointed Lady Justices Sharon Kaunda Newa, Ireen Zeko Mbewe, Bridget Chilombo Maka, Ruth Chibbabbuka, Concepter Zulu and Susan Wenjalani as judges of the Court of Appeal, subject to parliamentary ratification.<\/p>\n
Others appointed as judges of the High Court of Zambia but subject to ratification by the national Assembly, include Rodgers Kaoma, Ikechukwu Iduma, Makalo Mwanza, Davis Chibwili, Sylvia Okoh, Katrina Maimbolwa Walubita, Mutafela Chimuka, Ireen Wishimanga, Claudia Luswili, Kaumbi Mundia and Thelma Mumba<\/p>\n
In addition the President has also appointed Maureen Tresha, Angelica Mwanza, Japhet Zulu, Diana Majokwe, Comfort Mulenga, Bubala Chibbonta, Annie Nsama, Ruth Mbambi, Ms Kalifano Manyepa, Mr Mcrobby Chiwale, Ms Kabukabu Sikwibele and Mr James Bako Chipola.<\/p>\n
The President has made the appointments acting on the recommendation of the Judicial Service Commission.<\/p>\n
And, President Hichilema in accordance with section (5)(1) of the Electoral Commission of Zambia Act Number 25 of 2016, has appointed Major General Vincent Mukanda retired as Deputy Chairperson of the Electoral Commission of Zambia and Zevyanji Sinkala as Commissioner, both appointments subject to ratification by the National Assembly.<\/p>\n
