A 37-year-old man of Chadiza District in Eastern Province has been murdered with a pan brick at a drinking spree.<\/p>\n
Aggripa Banda, 37, of Kamthira Village in Mlolo Chiefdom, was murdered on April 02, 2026, by the accused friend following a dispute over a K3.00.<\/p>\n
The brother to the deceased, Mabvuto Phiri 44, reported the matter to Chadiza Police Station around 19:00 on the material day.<\/p>\n
ZANIS reports that this has been confirmed by the Zambia Police Commanding Officer in Eastern Province Robertson Mweemba.<\/p>\n
Brief information on the matter is that Banda who is now deceased went on a drinking spree with his friend Christopher Nyirenda who is now the accused and a quarrel erupted.<\/p>\n
Both were drinking Opaque beer commonly known as Chibuku at a Female’s house at Thebwe Village in Mlolo Chiefdom at around 18:00hrs on April 02, 2026.<\/p>\n
Around 19:00hrs, it was revealed that the deceased was demanding that the suspect Nyirenda give him back a K3.00 which led to a quarrel.<\/p>\n
The Suspect refused and told the deceased that he was not owing him money at the time he was alive.<\/p>\n
After a quarrel escalated to nearly a fight, both were stopped and advised to go back to their various homes.<\/p>\n
However, after the\u00a0deceased walked a few steps from the drinking spree, he was hit on the head with a pan brick by the Suspect leading him to fall down.<\/p>\n
Nyirenda who is now the suspect immediately fled the scene after realising what he had done while the deceased was rushed to Chanida Health Post who referred him to Chadiza District Hospital.<\/p>\n
Upon reaching Chadiza District Hospital, he was pronounced dead.<\/p>\n
Mr Mweemba says upon inspection of the body, the police noticed blood as he was bleeding from the nose, mouth and right ear but had no visible injuries.<\/p>\n
The body has since been deposited into the mortuary awaiting postmortem.<\/p>\n
The Police has also confirmed that a manhunt has been launched to bring to book the suspect.<\/p>\n
