{"id":309,"date":"2025-06-13T15:23:38","date_gmt":"2025-06-13T15:23:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dev.grz.gov.zm\/zanis\/?p=309"},"modified":"2025-06-13T15:23:38","modified_gmt":"2025-06-13T15:23:38","slug":"napsa-urged-to-increase-sensitisation-on-pension-management","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.zanis.gov.zm\/?p=309","title":{"rendered":"NAPSA urged to increase sensitisation on pension management"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Solwezi, June 11, 2025, ZANIS &#8212; North-western Province Deputy Permanent Secretary, Lackson Mulumbi, has urged the National Pensions Scheme Authority (NAPSA) to sensitise local authorities on pension management.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Mulubi observes that people will only appreciate what the authority is doing if they are well informed about pensions.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking when a team of officials from NAPSA and Local Authorities Superannuation Fund (LASF) led by Principal Local Government Officer, Lynnety Mukonde, paid a courtesy call on him, Mr Mulumbi advised NAPSA to explain the proposed reforms for people to fully understand and appreciate issues of pension management and adherence.<\/p>\n<p>He added that there is a growing need to have supplementary pension funds besides NAPSA and allow those in the public service to have options, and urged LASF to heighten sensitisation of their services.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPeople know more about NAPSA than LASF and therefore there is a need for you LASF officials to give as much information about your services,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>He noted that there is no country that grows without proper pension management, as such the sensitisation activity will\u00a0increase knowledge levels among members of the public.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Mulumbi added that information on benefits, partial withdrawal and claims should be effectively clarified.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere is a lot of misinformation of who gets what and how when a person dies and this should be explained extensively,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Mulumbi has further advised NAPSA to extend its sensitisation to the private sector where most reports of non-compliance are reported.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI would like to urge you to extend your sensitisation to the private sector, because I know we have challenges relating to compliance with remission of returns and also expand your base to other districts,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Principal Local Government Officer, Lynnety Mukonde, said the sensitisation programme is targeting principal officers and union members.<\/p>\n<p>And LASF Strategy and Business Performance Manager, Patience Phiri, says introduction of supplementary pension is one of the deliverables in the 8<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0National Development Plan.<\/p>\n<p>She said apart from local authorities, LASF will also interact with utility companies\u00a0on the proposed contribution rates as well as the proposed benefits.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Napsa North-western Area Manager, Chela Sinyangwe, disclosed that the authority has introduced mobile offices in districts where they do not have physical offices in order to have a large coverage.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Solwezi, June 11, 2025, ZANIS &#8212; North-western Province Deputy Permanent Secretary, Lackson Mulumbi, has urged the National Pensions Scheme Authority (NAPSA) to sensitise local authorities on pension management.
