{"id":2869,"date":"2026-03-03T12:01:56","date_gmt":"2026-03-03T10:01:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.zanis.gov.zm\/?p=2869"},"modified":"2026-03-03T12:01:56","modified_gmt":"2026-03-03T10:01:56","slug":"seven-houses-collapse-in-mondengwa-ward","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.zanis.gov.zm\/?p=2869","title":{"rendered":"SEVEN HOUSES COLLAPSE IN MONDENGWA WARD."},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit (DMMU) says seven houses collapsed in Mondengwa ward in Chilanga District due to floods that were experienced in the area.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Chilanga District\u00a0DMMU Officer Hakham Himaanga says 25 fields were also affected leaving crops vulnerable and prone to armyworm attack.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Mr Himaanga has\u00a0explained that an assessment of Mondengwa and Mwembeshi wards of Chilanga District was conducted last month by a technical\u00a0team due to flood incidents reports that were received.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Speaking in an interview with ZANIS,\u00a0Mr Himaanga said\u00a0the assessment done in Mondengwa ward established that selected farms situated along Mungwi and Mumbwa roads are being flooded by storm water originating from Lusaka city.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">\u201cThe absence of a properly engineered drainage system has resulted in uncontrollable runoff discharging into farm lands instead of being directed into a neutral water course\u2019\u2019, he said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit (DMMU) says seven houses collapsed in Mondengwa ward in Chilanga District due to floods that were experienced in the area.
